Hi there…..just curious, but I can't get AniPro 1.3 to run under WINNT. I get an error message that it cannot create the PAAT directory on any of my drives. All but one of my partitions are FAT partitions, so NTFS file systems are not the problem. I'm guessing that Microsoft has changed the DPMI spec again under NT (seems to be a habit they have <g>). Anyone got any suggestions????

Microsoft has indeed changed the DPMI spec for NT. Until (if) Phar Lap writes a device driver for NT (like pharlap.386 for win3.1) we will not be able to run. -Brian

Any clues in what exactly pharlap.386 does? It shouldn't be too much of a headache to port it (read this in the "NT" context of headaches). I already know that I can't (yet) do that for the R4400, but it should not be much of a nightmare to get it done for x86 platforms.

PHARLAP.386 adjusts the level of DMPI calls that a program will make to the version that Phar Lap needs for its application. If I remember, Windows is at DPMI version .9 and Phar Lap is at version 1.1. I think. I'm not sure about those version numbers, but it is adjusting the DPMI spec. -Brian

Interesting. I will take a look at it. Funny thing though, as Microsoft has told over and over it would not support anything beyond 0.9.

Right. And it won't…by itself. But Phar Lap needs a higher version, so I think they intercept the DPMI calls and replace them with their own. -Brian

There is a new version of PharLap called "TNT", that supposedly supports threading and the NT "console" calls under both DOS and NT…..don't suppose you guys could use that?????

Well, I thought so, since I have been trying to get VistaPro 3.0 to run. The VP guys just sent me a beta of the new VP3 that supports NTs DPMI, so I would expect things to be happening at Phar Lap as well. Any ideas as to when to expect a "fix" if Phar Lap upgrades to the NT DPMI? Would AutoDesk slipstream an "upgrade" so that we NT users can run ANIPro? (Of course, I didn't wipe DOS, so I can still run ANIPro, it's just that I prefer NT to Windows……it works MUCH better, and is as crash-proof an OS as I have ever seen!) Any info is appreciated…..thanks for the info.
