>> I just set it to generic VGA… << Which "it"? I've set Windows to VGA and vibcfg'd 3DS's Main-Display to VGA, but I can't get the Materials Editor to work (and the only vibcfg options for it are VIBRANT, VESA, and ADI). I get various Vibrant errors when I try to run MEdit and when I return to Editor a 3DS message pops up saying to chose a driver that can support an 80×34 line display. Sorry to keep beating on this, but I only gots ONE computer, and when my spouse wants her WordPerfect–well, as Horace Rumpole would put it, it's a case of She Who Must Be Obeyed! Somehow she just can't seem to appreciate the ethereal beauty of that little red tape moving slowly across the screen, hour after hour.

If that's what you want to do, I don't know of anyone who has been able to render in the background in Windoze. 3DS just stops when it gets iconized. Now remember, I don't do Windoze (unless I have to) so I am not the most objective person on the subject. Brian from Vibrant suggested trying VESA for the driver, not the in-line drivers, because he stated that they will _not_ work there.

It sounds like the folks using OS/2 are having a lot more success with 3DS than those of us using that piece of total garbage known as Windows. I think I'm going to give it a try on my "windows" workstation at some point, but I'm too busy now. I can't get 3DS to render in the background, either. Just stops dead in its tracks.
