I am currently doing R&D work for future Face 2 Face versions and so I pose
this question. Which would you prefer?
1.) Fast Video Updates, Medium Resolution (B/W)
2.) Slower Updates, But Higher Resoltion (B/W)
3.) Fast Video Updates, Medium Resolution But Slower than B/W (Color)
4.) Slower Updates, But Higher Resoltion But Slower than B/W (Color)

Snooping around the messages and found one which struck a chord. I have been
tinkering as a more than interested user with both full motion video and
audiographics t/c for about 18 months and in answer to you queries, preference
would be for:
1. Resolution to say VGA standards, min 32K colour or better, min 25 frames/sec
refresh rate all compressed to nothing, multiplexed with data and audio
carriers and pushed down the most economic single channel ISDN codecs
possible.
2. However in the real world, experience suggests that lip sync seems to be
more important than absolute hi-definition in most circumstances. Hence more
frames per sec refresh rate would be preferred to gains in image definition .
3. Colour again seems to give better recogonition qualities than B/W images
given the same levels of signal delivery – even though the absolute definition
and image quality of B/W would be higher.
Is your R&D in this area for your own products or for one of the known 20 or so
suppliers?
