#Any new US Products?

Anyone seen any new Amiga products in the works from North American companies?
I'm trying to put together my news column for Amiga Computing, and news has
been VERY scarce this month.
I'd hate for our Brit colleagues to think the US market is totally dead… So
if you know of any impending products, or if you're going to be releasing
something soon and you'd like some publicity in about a month-and-a-half's
time, please drop me an email here. I'd love to drop in a mention.

OMNI by day, Amiga by night
Well, I'm doing some graphics work for a couple of shareware teams in
Canada, but nothing commercial for now.

Say VanceMeister! What's this about shareware teams? Can you give
details or is it hush hush?

It's mostly hush-hush, for now. One of the teams is basically a cross
between those european AGA demo coders and coders of games like Shepherd
(sp?).
They're planning a "Hello!" demo first, followed up with a Tanks game. The
other team is even more secretive, where I don't really know what graphics
to do until a see an alpha of the game with its early grfx ideas. That one
is like getting an interactive sketchbook, where I take the sketches and
make them into paintings.
The first team of coders are wanting to implement GameSmith coding to
speed up development of the software. GameSmith takes care of the more
general stuff in games design. However they do their coding, my only job
is to do my best on the graphics and supply them to the coders in RAW
format. Everyone pretty much specializes, instead of being a
jack-of-all-trades. There's a fellow who's specifically dedicated to doing
the music and sound effects, for example. If I recall, there are 2 coders,
3 graphics people, and the one sound man.
The coders were planning to use Assembly and C with Assembly.
The sound man's best tracker choices would be QuadraComposer and OctaMed.
He'll be naturally doing a lot of sampling.
The graphics people each have a number of 2D and 3D Amiga graphics
software to work with. At least one has a Retina card for 24bit work. For
myself, I have DPaint IV, PPaint, Imagemaster R/t 1.50C, Imagine 3.0,
Disney's – The Animation Studio, etc. As well, I have GigaMem and VMM for
extra memory. I have a friend's A1200 networked to my A3000T, using ProNet
(a variation of ParNet). The A1200 is being used for AGA test views. Plans
are under way to eventually replace the A1200 with a Retina Z-III for my
A3000T.
I've just added another 200mb SCSI to the 200mb I currently have, so I
have a decent work space for both work and virtual memory apps.

Any press releases online about IC500? Alas, come to think of it, though, it's
really not a "U.S." product, despite SCALA's presence here…
InfoChannel IC500 is indeed a US product.
You're are thinking about Scala MM400 which was shown in Europe and has
not been released here in the US.

You might look at PAWS portable Amiga project..you out there Shawn?
What about Jim Drew's AMIA mac-pc-amiga interface, did that ever make it
out? I seem to recall it was announced but haven't heard any more about
it. Any '060 accellerators from GVP, UU or anyone else ready for chips in
the event they ever get released? Amiga-Lynx Network Co. and Dario Tieso
at lynx@amigalynx.wisdom.bubble.org announced a '060 product called
Cyberstorm, what happened to it?
Softwood just recently released their Final Filer and there was talk of
Aldosouri's fabulous spreadsheet coming from them soon, how about that?
I would personally love to read about all of these products.

Thanks for the tips. I did a mention of PAWS last month, and the Softwood and
UU stuff is already covered.
Slow month… Wish this was for the April column instead of March, I'd just
make everything up. 🙂

Got another possible for you Denny: call Gabriel Pasko at FUTURE DESIGNS
(708) 546-2960. He claims to be producing a 3000T tower in the first qtr
of 1995. quote:

Denny, you know we always have something up our sleeves, and since I have hired
more *Amiga* programmers, things will be released much quicker than in the
past. We are still dedicated to the Amiga platform, and we are working closely
with the new buyers to make emulation technology a standard with all Amigas
both old and new.
