#Bad block

greetings…. I have a problem… my son's basketball game, two disk set, has
one disk that has a bad block. No back up disk, not on the HD, and the company
is out of business. (Well its not raining out yet) What would be a good tool to
use on this problem?
The old versions of the operating system used to come with a program called
DISKDOCTOR. It always worked faithfully for me, but some of my Amiga buddies
tell me it is a piece of junk. The have recommended Quarterback tools. I do
not own QB tools so I do not know how good of an investment it is, but it gets
high marks from people whom I trust.

I have used QB Tools and it has worked ok for me. I must warn you (and
anyone else) that running PowerCache and QB Tools at the same time caused
my disk to get corrupted. QB Tools seems to put a lock on the entire disk
even if it wasn't writing to the drive. PowerCache couldn't write the
dirty directory pages it had in memory back to disk… What a mess.
Fortunately, I do regular backups and had one that was only a week old.
PS. I wouldn't use DiskDoctor.

greetings… thanks for the clue about DiskDoctor… will try and get it. I
just bought Amiga Computing for Dec 93 and it has with it an old copy of
Quarter Back Tools. You might want to get the mag. I fired it up, and it ran. I
had a shop fix my disk… $5.
