Help! I dl'd Term 4.2 and tried to login to my graphics board support mailbox. What happened was: Term dialled the number; Term established the connection (19200/REL); Term locked up (sort of), ie: a) nothing appeared on screen and b) I couldn't type in anything (got only beeps instead). When I typed [R-Amiga H] (= Hangup), suddenly the box' login screen appeared, after the "User:" prompt were three plus signs ("+++"), in the line below that "NO CARRIER" and the modem hung up. I thought, "SH**, I was too impatient and hung up too quickly", and tired again, with the same results. What can this be? I didn't even have the "Protocol" in Serial prefs set to anything. So why can't I have a dialogue with my modem via Term and my keyboard? Apparantly all is well between Term and the modem as on startup Term resets the modem ("ATZ"->"OK"), the modem dials the number Term tells it to dial, the modem hangs up when Term tells it to do so, only I have no keyboard control whatsoever! (Sob!) |^(( BTW, I have no problems connecting to CI$ (as you can easily see) using the same serial.device, the same modem and the same keyboard (only AP instead of Term). Please? I'm desperate! Every thing the same eh? Well, what about the INITialization string? Is it also the same? Maybe there is something missing in the setup. You should also mention what mfgr, model modem your using. It prolly will help. 🙂 Typing AT&V will produce a list of all the modem settings. After starting TERM type in the command string and compare the settings to a term program that seems to be working. That is AutoPilot. When I had trouble like you ie no keyboard response, I discovered it was related to RTS/CTS. It wasn't enabled and either the host or my terminal was waiting for the other to say "I'm ready to Send", or "Clear to Send". I think its &K3 (Enable RTS/CTS local flow control) the other &K4 (Enable XON/XOFF local flow control. If its set for one try the other. That's my 2 cents, err hmmm, make that 23 cents. Christopher
