I remember when I was contemplating the same, I went with the adspeed, and then moved up to the MMR 030 board and sold the adspeed to a friend. The adspeed does make a difference and at the lower prices of today (I paid $225.00 for mine several years ago), the cost of upgrading later is not as great as in mine case, I was only able to get $95 for it when I sold it. =Rick=

I had an Adspeed before my MMR. It's a fairly simple upgrade and does give you a little faster machine. It's a nice for a stepping stone to the 030 boards. Richard -> on the Amiga 1000 AutoPilot

To be honest the Adspeed is a waste of money. I had a friend by one at the giveaway price of $75 about a year ago. The increase in speed you get is very, very slight. You will still need to upgrade to an 030 or faster eventually and throw out the AdSpeed. (like the fellows that responded) Your best bet for a cost effective upgrade is to buy something like a Mega Midget Racer, or similar board. They are dirt cheap if you don't buy the 32 bit ram and board, nor a 68882 FPU. It will be crusty-slow without them. (still faster than adspeed) But this allows you the financial freedom to upgrade a bit at a time. After adding the ram board, 4 mb of 32bit ram and the FPU co-processor you will be on par with an A3000. Also, don't forget to get rid of the 16 bit FAST RAM after adding a 32 bit board. This will help prevent bottle-necking. Hope this helps Eric P.S. If you have any other questions feel free to e-mail me. Also, don't get me wrong. ICD is a great company. Flicker Free Video II is a God-send. Adspeed is not a faulty product, it's just that a 68000 is a 68000. There is no way around it.

You would be better off and getting a cheap 030 accelerator. The AdSpeed improvement isn't that great. -Jonathan // Amiga online via Autopilot \\// MAC Quadra 700 & 486 emulation via Amiga!
