#Retina or Picasso II ?
4 messages in this thread
I just got a Picasso-II and was wondering what if any AGA game are usable with
it and how to go about it.
I am using it with a NEC 3D and I still havn't figured out how to optimize the
refresh rate for the 3D. The install aborted with an error message when I chose
"Custom" for the refresh rate which I did because 37hz is the max for the 3D
and the closest choices were 35hz and 38. I was afraid 38 might damage my
monitor so I re-ran the install software and picked 35hz. I still havn't
figured out how to adjust it to 37hz.
The install software also wanted to write older versions of some libraries to
my HD so I skipped those parts. One of the Amiga Guide files that was installed
is in Dutch…
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
MegaBall AGA (shareware) works great on the Picasso as does some of the Maxis
programs SimXXXX.

Hi Don,
if you want to optimise the Picasso monitor-file to your monitor
specifications, you need a program called Picassomode. This, potentially
dangerous, program allows you to tweak the monitordriver, but you must be
carefull. A friend blew his monitor because he wanted too much.
I got Picassomode from a friend, if you can't find it, I'm willing to arrange
something. I think it comes from villagetronic, though. But as the soft i
received dates from oktober 93, it just could be that newer boards are
delivered with Picassomode.
Yoe get an error message when you chose 'custom, because in your case the
custom monitor wasn't defined yet.
As I am dutch-speaking, I'm willing to trade the amigaguide file for the
english one I got. (just joking) But I guess you mean German, lots of people
confuse dutch and german. 🙂
Succes !

Don,
I'm afraid I can't be much help. I don't play any AGA games, and my monitor
(Mitsubishi DiamondScan) was easily set up.
Good Luck
