HELP!!! I just bought a Microbotics VXL30 accelerator card for my A2000. There is one problem: it came with no documentation or software! (I know it was dumb, but the price was right.) Does anyone have one of these? If so, I have a few questions: 1> It appears that this board is installed by removing the 68000 chip and plugging the board into the socket. Is this true? 2> The board has both a 68000 and a 68EC030 chip on it. How do I switch between the two? Is special software required? 3> There is a socket for a 68881/2 FPU and a socket called FPU-CLOCK. Do I need to supply an FPU clock if I am plugging this into an A2000? 4> There is a jumper called CPU. What is it used for? Vitals: Board name: Microbotics VXL*30 Rev 2.0 Clock speed appears to be 25 MHz. No onboard RAM. (Appears to be pins to plug in a daughterboard, but nothing supplied with it.) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx!!

I don't have one or ever read the documentation for one, but hopefully I can clear up some of this. (I've read a few AmigaWorld reviews on this board a while back…) Anyways, yes, you do have to remove the 68000 from the A2000 and plug the board into it's socket, along with inserting the 68000 into the chip socket on the accelerator. Switching between the 68000 and 68030 can be done two ways: 1) By a software program, which you don't seem to have, or 2) by a jumper on the board, which depending on how it is set, will always boot the computer in either 68030 or 68000 mode. Chances are that the "CPU" jumper you mentioned does this. As for the 68881/82 socket, you'll need to pop in a chip. The chip can be ran at the same speed as the main processor, or faster by adding an additional oscillator into the additional socket you mentioned. By running the chip faster, you may have to switch another jumper to disengage it from the CPU clock and let it read the faster oscillator signal. Hope some of this helps! Regards, Keith.
