This whole discussion is a little more than I was asking for.
What I am looking for is to simply hook-up my laptop top a TV screen with an
inexpensive adapter so I can replay at least 640×480 FLC files on large screen.
Any recomendations?

Ane inexpensive, easy to use one for plain NTSC out is the PC-TVplus
from Aitech, 800-882-8184. They're only a couple hundred dollars, and
work O/K/ for standard flic playing. You *might* have to set your
vertical refresh rate to 60hz; I'm not sure if they still have this
limitation or not.
