#FLCs in Windows

Hi,
I'm producing videos with the Magni Producer Pro. The problem is
that I can't seem to get my FLC files to run smoothly under windows.
I want to combine animation, audio files (Midi & Wav) and gen lock
with video. Is there a way to do this from DOS or a way to get
windows to cooperate? I'm running on a 486 33DX with 32 MB of RAM.
All suggestions welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Rebbie

I think that Windows must absorb some resources so that you can't get smooth
playback, and that's why you're looking at DOS?
Sound cards usually have a DOS 320×200 player that might help. Higher
resolutions, particularly when you have a lot of movement from frame to frame
(like walking through a room) are hard to play on a computer, so if you can use
320×200 you might get usable results.
If you can get AAPLHI.ZIP or PLAY80.ZIP to work, that would output just the
video (higher than 320×200). Can you then add sound separately?
Also, if the Windows driver is set for more than 256 colors, you will notice a
definite degradation in speed. Since .FLCs are only 256 colors there's no
reason to try to run Windows beyond that when you're playing them back.

That would help. Be sure that the DRIVERS live up to the hardware claims!
Drivers can make quite a bit of difference; ask about your card and driver once
you have selected it. Hopefully someone here will have some comments on it.

I am a registered owner of the VB VBX toolkit for windows. I just started a
project
and realized I have lost my manual for using the VBX(that photocopied 30 or so
page manual) I have the C+ manual but it doesn't have what I need. Is there
any way to get another copy of the manual for VB?

The only manual I can find that you might be talking about is in the
Animation Player Developer's Kit (30 or so photocopied, bound with
black tape, pages). Nothing for the VBX.
707/794-1450 to call customer service. If you have to buy a complete
kit over again, you'll want the ASL (Animation Support LIbraries). It
has the manual.
