I just upgraded my Amiga 3000 to OS 3.1 and found that AMAX 2.5 (the cartridge version) does not work. (The MAC roms load OK but the screen just goes blank and AMAX does not boot.) Has anyone else had a similar problem? Does anyone know how to fix this? -David Cattell P.S. I do not plan to use AMAX IV. I am hoping that the cartridge version can be made to work.

David, I too was wondering if anyone else had that happen. My Amax cartridge no longer works on my 3000 with 3.1. -Richard

Richard: I found that Amax version 2.0 runs on the 3000 with 3.1 installed. On the Amax startup screen you have to select "no expansion" for the memory mode option, so that it runs in chip ram only. I have 2 Megs of chip ram so that seems to give me enough memory for running the MAC applications I use. If you have a copy of 2.0, you might give this a try. By rights Readysoft should provide an upgrade or at least a patch for cartridge users, but they have abandoned support of Amax. Does anyone else have suggestions? They will be more than welcome. Hope this helps. -David Cattell

Run it on Chip Ram!!! I suspect it has something to do with the way the 3.1 SetPatch uses the mmu. I don't really need it, especially now that there's an Amiga Quicken clone. -Richard
