#3D Studio from AutoSurf

>> BTW, you should have posted your message in the acad forum. The asoft forum
is devoted entirely to 3d studio and animator pro. The Acad forum is AutoCAD,
Autosurf, Designer, AME, Autovision and other related AutoCAD add ons. <<
The thing is, this subject of inte-connectivity between ACAD+add-ons and 3DS,
which I've raised before as well, falls into a kind of no-mans-land between the
two Forums (fora, forae?).
Is this not the best place to discuss it? It's 3ds users who have the problem.
Most 3ds users have to import from Acad at some time but do the majority of
Acad users go out to 3ds? On the other hand it seems that the problem is not
in the way 3ds imports DXF data but the way Acad creates it, or converts from
surface or solid/wire data to mesh, so maybe you are right. Just let's all be
talking in the same place 'cos I think this is important. I really want to
combine the power of Acad and 3ds and get a seamless link. It's not there yet.
Your Lisp routine sounds interesting!
John
I think that the ACAD forum would definitely have been more appropriate, since
it really involves AutoCAD and Autosurf. 3d studio is only involved in the
rendering aspect of this. In any case we'll keep this thread going in here.
As to the lisp routine, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it. I work on it
when I have time. And it's getting awfully complicated. But I'll keep you
posted.
