Oh yeah? Try running a PCI version (which I'm sure is what he's using). The new Vibrant drivers are better but not yet perfect. It still takes longer than it should to load 3D Studio and Windows will not run after a 3DS session. I would give the same advice. Stay away from ATI and get a Viper 64 or anything else for that matter.

Gus; What do you think of the NEW Hercules 64 card that is about to come out. Supposed to be really fast… Zac (AZ-TECH) "Still with the ATI PCI MACH64" Berkeley

Zac, I have never seen nor heard about the new Hercules 64 board. I used to have a Hercules (Chrome I think) and that's all I know about it. Note that the ATI is pretty Zippy provided you don't have to be switching from one environment to the next. I "fixed" my problem by not running 3D Studio with it. I use a twin computer setup. 3D Studio runs on a computer with a plain old Viper and everything else runs on the computer with the ATI (I guess I can call that a "dual pentium system", ain't it?!) <g>

Gus; You lucky dog. A dual Pentium system. I only have one Pentium at the moment, and a couple of 486s. But now that I am used the the Pentium, I just can't work on a 486. I guess it is time to upgrade one of them. Zac (AZ-TECH) Berkeley

The ISA and VLB versions of the ATI seem to work fine. I've had no experience with the PCI version, but that's good to know. Greg Pyros and I worked this out earlier this week. It does seem that the only card in the Mach 64 line that's having major problems now is the PCI version. Hopefully this problem will get worked out soon as I'm sure Vibrant is aware of it. Jh

Have you had any problems with the Viper 64? Mark

I don't have the Viper 64. I still am running an old Viper PCI (P9000) with 3D Studio. I think Alan Iglesias has one. I do use the ATI for everything else on my main computer and I really like it though.
