#Mac Digitizer Advice

I am looking at investing in a digitizer for modeling on the Mac.
I've seen the Hyperspace 150 magnetic field device and it's priced
right, but I need to digitize metal objects. Two arm based
digitizers seem decent – $ and features (Faro's Space Arm or
Immersion Corp's Personal Digitizer), but I am curious about any real
world installations with these two or any others. Faro tells me
their device was developed for microsurgery and is very light and
smooth. Immersion's looks cheap/plastic and small in modeling volume.
All advice appreciated.

I handled both pieces at SIGGRAPH. Immersion's not even in the same league as
Faro. The Faro's a lovely thing. I have no actual user experience, though.
Did the Faro feel substantially smoother in operation/manuervability
than the Immersion? Did you notice how deft either of the digitizing
points felt in your hand?

Yes. Not having used anything to actually do digitizing, however, I don't think
I can make a call on usability. The Faro felt like a real machine, though.
Thanks for the input. After looking over all the literature it seems
the FARO is the way to go. Once I get it up and running I should
probably post something about using it. Thanks again,
