Can you give us some information about what type of machine you have…ie: what
type of processor and does it have a math co-processor? Also, what memory
management software are you using.

I have a Gateway 2000 (IBM Compatible). Geez, I don't really know the rest.

Your GW comes set up for windows. It loads something called EMM386.sys in your
config.sys file ( a start-up file). If you remove emm386 then you won't see
that message ever again, but it does some useful things. . . Most people use a
feature of DOS called multi-boot to have different start-up configurations to
allow for compatibility between certain programs or get the best performance
from an application. If this is too simple a message, sorry; likewise if it's
greek to you. If you want to give it a stab, I can send you a multiboot
configuration for config.sys and autoexec.bat(the other start-up file) that is
imagine friendly.

I use EMM386 and Himem.sys and have no problems running Imagine. No need to
reboot at all. I use DOS 6.2…here's an excerpt from my config.sys:
DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS /shadowram:on
DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE RAM HIGHSCAN
All I now do is run Imagine with the /noxms switch.

ok, I'll try that too before disabling the whole thing (the EMM386.exe file).If
that doesn't work, I'll certainly try Ed's way out too. I'm going to try both
right now.

CompuServe is definately worth it! When you get Imagine 2.0 up and running, my
suggestion should do the trick, stop on over to the Graphics User Group forum
(GO GUGRPA). The Imagine User Group is very active, and a great place to ask
"how to" questions. Right now the message section is a bit sparse, but thats
because of todays restructuring of several forums.

Thanks Ed. I'm no professional programmer, but I do know a "fair amount" (not
trying to bragg, just sort of answering your question about the easy or
"understandable" part of the message) about computers. Yes, I do know what
config.sys and autoexec.bat are but I would appreciate it very much if you
would send me those (forgot what you called it, something like multiboot I
think} files.
