—-<<Sean, Please don't post your phone number or address in the public area. CompuServe and Hash don't think it wise. This is for your own safety. I have moved your message into a private area of the forum where you and Steve can see it but it is out of the public eye.>>– –<<We discourage answering messages by EMail as no one else benefits from any answer to your question. Bruce Herzog Graphics Forums Staff NY 07-Aug-94 at 10:17a DST>>—- Bruce, are you saying that I can't use the Compuserve that I pay extremely well for, for my own communications as I see fit – as long as it's only benefitting other Compuserve users? I realize that Compuserve would like me to spend hours scrolling through the dozens of forums I infrequently visit, but if someone wants my specific advice, I'll certainly offer to let them e-mail or telephone me. If you have a problem with this PLEASE CALL ME AT MY HOME TELEPHONE NUMBER WHICH IS (415) 759-7540!!! Otherwise, it's likely to be weeks before your other paying customers get a response. Forgive me if I think $100 or so a month is more than enough to spend with CIS for the priveledge of passing out free advice. Sean Wagstaff Author, Macintosh 3D Starter Kit

Sean, I'm sure Bruce meant no offense when he pointed that the public posting of one's home phone number is not a practice CIS encourages. The recent piece on 20/20, or one of those other tv magazine programs, pointed quite well how such postings can lead to grief. As for email vs. forum responses to questions, we've always felt that we have an above average group of members in the grahpics areas, and a lot of subscribers learn a great deal from reading other's questions and the responses provided. I can honestly say that in the 3+ years that I have been around these areas I have never seen CIS do anyting that was designed to increase the amount of online time a subscriber had to use. Quite the contrary, they have gone out of their way to promote programs like TAPICS and other navigator programs that dramaticly reduce a member's online time. Hope you don't let this keep you from frequenting these areas! We all benefit from the expertise someone of your experience brings to the discussions. John Parker
