I have a couple of questions regarding video. First: I have some good educational VHS videos and would like to convert them into digital format and then edit them digitally. What are some good video boards that will allow me to input directly from my regular VHS deck? Also, I would like to directly input a video signal into the board for direct capture, 640 x480 at 24 bit is not required and I would also like to be able to output the video from the board to tape it does not have to be single frame renderings. Second: I am a little confused regarding the different video standards. I am getting more into the input of video and need some ideas on video standards It is my understanding that VHS is of lowest quality, then comes 8mm, and then super VHS. I am not interested in anything beyond prosumer quality. Where does hi 8 fit in and is it the same as 8mm and is it better than SVHS. I also think I understand that SVHS is the only standard that needs its own vcr where 8mm can be run through a regular vhs recorder with the use of a connection from the camera. Any recommendations on cameras and standards would be appreciated with there associated price ranges. Thanks Sam Coor
