STARVING ARTIST:
Needs used HI-8 deck w/controller, or any other used VTR equipment
you've got to offer. Can pay $$$$. Must have for transfering frame-accurate
animation.

3D Studio includes a driver for the Sony EVO-9650 Hi-8 unit, so you don't need
to purchase a controller if that is the deck you end up with.

I found that my Diaquest driver works differeently than the driver supplied in
3DS. There seems to be a double pre roll in the supplied driver. Also, the
Diaquest driver switches to DNR during a portion of the recording sequence.
Have I over looked something in the supplied driver?

The first EVO-9650 driver did that under certain circumstances, but a later
version was released which not only fixed that but speeded up the entire
recording. It should be up here, and is definitely the one shipping with R4.
