Hey,
Did you hear about Intel's Pentium? All the chips made before Jul 94 Have
a math error in them. So if your doing high level math (like designing or
high level CAD) you may have a problem. Oh I love it! REVENGE, REVENGE
REVENGE! And Intel will decide if you need a new chip ,depending on what
you use it for. Hey a victory is a victory regardless of how small.

I love it too! Okay, I do own a Pentium90 myself, but nevertheless I love
it since I don't do CAD and I have a more recent processor 🙂
The fact remains that a Pentium is verrrry fast, but there still isn't a
decent O/S to run on it! (Shitty Windows 3.11, bleehhh)
I try to do as much as possible on my A1200!

btw, you don't have an early Intel chipset to go with that Pentium90 do
you? That has bus timing problems. 🙂

Warp (OS/2) is a decent OS. (Finally!) (Now if developers actually start
developing for it…)

Same here, but I have my PC sitting right beside my 1200.

I don't have an early chipset, but the problems you mentione aren't the
only problems! I get the feeling that Intel dumped the Pentium on the
marked a bit too soon 🙂 I heard of problems with the SMC chipset
(probably the ones you mean?) and problems with floating point
calculations, problems with DMA….. Check out the IntelForum for details!

You're right! I saw it at the HCC here in Holland! It looks great, but
unfortunately there isn't any dedicated software for it. And I heard that
not all DOS and Windows stuff is happy with it…

No, it wasn't the SMC chipset, but some other one.
I also just heard of a somewhat different problem in some server PC's that
Intel wont even fix for some reason…

It runs all my Windows/DOS stuff, and faster than native Windows/DOS too.

(At the moment, I have the new Internet Gophers and WWW browser up on the
PC downloading some stuff. Extremely cool stuff, as you can have multiple
sessions going on at the same time!)

Don't smile too much till you test your "more recent processor" to see if
your P90 is math challenged.
My October vintage P90 in my clone is math challenged so I'm not sure how
I feel about this yet. Seems appropriate, I didn't get it sooner cause I
didn't want bleeding edge technology. Now OUCH! $#$%&*^%!!!
I bought it so I could get into doing custom business software (and make
money) so maybe they'll give me a new one?
