I installed MagicWB v1.2b recently on my A2000. After installing MagicWB I
mistakenly unplugged my external CDRom drive from the 4000's SCSI port(while
powered up).
Upon replugging and repowering my CDRom/4000 there was no icon to represent
the disk present in the CDRom. I stress that I do not know for sure whether the
icon was present after installing MagicWB but before unplugging the CDRom.
Therefor I'm not sure of the cause. When in a shell, I tried the command "mount
cd0:" and was given "Error: Device 'CD0:' is already mounted". But when I run
the "Info" command cd0: is not mentioned. Can anyone help?
I did initially have problems with my CDRom when first installed- but it has
worked flawlessly for the last month. Until this. Thanks

I had the same experience with Magic WB when I first installed it. It has
nothing to do with unplugging your powered-up CDROM (although that could
cause other more SERIOUS problems). The new MWB look is nice but the 1.2
upgrade seems to change/delete the tooltypes for some of the DOSDRIVERS in
your DEVS drawer. You must not have had the IBM PCO/PC1 drivers installed
or you would have noticed that they too were messed up.
All you need to do to correct the problem is replace the current (MWB
modified) CD0 driver in your SYS:DEVS/DOSDRIVERS drawer with the original
from your CDROM driver software. Actually, you could just reinter the
proper tooltypes or reinstall the CDROM driver software and that should
correct the problem as well.
Depending on the driver software you are using, the CD0 tooltypes vary a
little. I am familiar with ASIM2.0 and the WB3.1 drivers if you need help
with the tooltypes for these.

I first tried replacing the new icon with the original from my AsimCDFS floppy-
But same problem. Then I put magicWB's CD0: icon back in & changed its
tooltypes to mirror AsimCDFS's icon. This seems to solve the problem. I did
notice that the MWB version was 578 bytes big compared to 394 for the original.

Glad to hear you got the CDROM back online.
As for the larger size of the MWB icons, that is another bad habit of MWB
and the Commodore OS which by default saves way too many bit planes of
color data for each icon (at least for my A3000). This can be overcome
with a PD program named OPTICON. This program reduces the icon image down
to the first 3 bitplanes necessary for an 8 color workbench. The
reduction value is user selectable in case you run a >8 color WB.
The resulting icons look the same but are leaner in size, and much quicker
popping on the screen during directory opens. I can't remember if I got it
here or from someplace else. You really should check it out.
If you can't find it in the Libs here, let me know and I will upload it.

Did you try DIR CD0:? Can your system access the drive that way?
