In a perfect world they wouldn't say that … because there would be no public
(government, tax funded) assistance to be had.

OK, fine, they'd just die quietly, far away from your neighborhood, and
when they did die, a few other near-death homeless people would earn a few
cents to buy a banana by carting away the body.

They can die while jumping up and down screaming about if they like. You have
the right to the pursuit of happiness. You do not have the right to happiness.
You do not have the right to steal the work and effort of others.
If you want to crusade for their benefit, if you want to agree with how badly
they've been victimized and how you know they tried and it's not their fault,
and that you feel their pain, please do so … using _your_ funds.
