I'm trying to help some friends on a project where they're trying to get MIDI
data from an Amiga into a Mac running Studio Vision. The Amiga has been using
an old sequencer called Music-X which is the original release of that product
(circa 1989). Does anyone know of a way to get sequences from this program
converted into standard MIDI files – particularly ones that could be read on
the Mac? I've downloaded some utilities that may help on the Mac end, but I
still need to get the Amiga sequences into standard MIDI format.
Also, is there an upgrade to Music-X that would provide the capability to save
sequences to standard MIDI?

Music-X came with 2 (or 3) disks, the utilities disk has a file converter on
it.
You can also do a real-time MIDI transfer by connecting the two computers MIDI
ports. Set Music-X to receive MIDI clock sync, enable MIDI clock on the Mac and
hit "record". The Amiga will sync with the Mac's clock. Work's fine as long as
there aren't too many files to transfer.

Thanks for the reply – I'll find out if my friend has the utilities disk. I
think we're going to go ahead and get the updated version of the program
anyway. As far as the Amiga – Mac connection, where are you talking about
hitting record on the Mac – in Studio Vision? When we tried that we found out
that Studio Vision will only record one track at a time. With about 60 minutes
worth of songs we'd be there all day! It sounds like importing a MIDI file is
better.
