#OS2 Warp and 3D Studio
4 messages in this thread
Since last months meeting of the Montreal 3D Studio Users group where we talked
about the use of 3DS under OS2 Warp, I have installed OS2 and have been stunned
by the improved rendering times I get under OS2. This is when using project
files so large that my 16 megs of RAM are not enough under DOS and I swap to
disk.. However, I am still not able to get my DPS par card recognized..
messages like: incorrect version of DOS and driver not found appear, it would
be nice to have the par load then I would be able to render to it's dedicated
hard drive.. On the internet one person has said that he runs 3D Studio AND the
Par card but I have not been able to reach him.. Any of you have ideas how to
get it to work ? Regards, Bob Smith [Archi-Media Productions{Montreal 3D Studio
Users Group]}

RE: PAR under OS/2.
The version of DOS included with OS/2 does not contain necessary lookup tables
for the PARDRV program. To circumvent this problem, you need to boot from a
DOS image file. Check under "Booting a specific DOS version" in your OS/2
reference manual. You will need another version of DOS, such as MS-DOS to use
as your DOS image.
No functions of OS/2 are sacraficed by using a DOS image. Its just a matter of
compatibility. If you need more help, post here or send me e-mail.
Good Luck.
