Hi, I hope you are Wayne. *I* am the one who left the posting on CBM2000 about hooking Ms. Amiga to a Commodore 170x monitor (mines a 1701)…. I get crystal clear 80 columns…here's how: a) take your 5-pin din jack that terminates in 4 rca jacks and shove the din jack in Amiga's din pug video output port. b) now you have 4 rca plugs dangling there. figure out which one is LUMA (on mine its the white one) and shove it into the LUMA rca jack on your 170x. c) figure out which one is Audio, and shove it into the Audio input rca jack on the rear of the 170x (on mine, its the white cable) d) leave the other two unused RCA plugs dangling. e) get a simple hi-fi cable, RCA male jacks on both end. f) shove one plug into Amiga's RCA video out port (last one on the right as you face the rear of Amiga) g) shove the other end into 170x CHROMA input RCA jack. h) you'll have to fiddle with brite/contract/color/tinte to get the most pleasing combo on your 170x screen. i) you'll notice you haven't used Amiga's stereo output jacks at all, so you can take two more rca cords and run those into your hi-fi's aux inputs. You can Have that great stereo sound and then switch to the monitor's speaker when you feel like it without umplugging or changing anything. I am typing this in 80 col with EZterm in ABASIC and the 80 cols looks fantastically clean and clear! Let me know how you make out. I saved $500 on an RGB monitor (for now) and bought myself a Star SG-10 printer and kept the other $150 for food! REgards, Harv
