Ok, found my brochure. It's Computer System Associates, 7564 Trade St., San
Diego, CA 92121, (619) 566-3911. The board is a generic 68000 replacement;
however, I'm pretty sure the software to be run must conform with 68020
restrictions, such as not doing stupid things with RTE. Thus it won't do any
good in a current Mac or ST, but it works great in the Amiga!
The board runs at the system clock speed of 7.1X MHZ. It's actually rated up
to 16 MHZ, but the Amiga won't support it at that rate. I imagine some
creative hacking could get it running at the crystal rate of 14.3X MHZ, but it
would have a lot of trouble getting memory access at that speed. Nevertheless,
with 256K RAM onboard cache, that might not be much of a problem.
Question for you hardware hackers: the crystal does run at 14.3X MHZ, doesn't
it? It's divided down for the CPU, right? Just think of a 14MHZ 68020 instead
of a 7MHZ 68000. 4:1 or 5:1 improvement right there!
