Don Neither I have a command in the startup that is causing the problem when I
take it out it works fine but as sone as I add it the problem starts again
(says disk not validated). The command is date to sys:s/last-start-date it
writes the last date entered to the file. It worked great with 1.1 but not with
1.2 Can you help. Thank you very much and Have A Good Day…..

Try this…
DATE > SYS:s/last-start-date
That should redirect the output to your file.

WHy not just go DATE > NOW ? If you don't have something like the A-Time, when
you reboot the machine the date and time will be read from NOW.
'Cuz that was the file he wanted it in.

I tried that to. When its done and workbench loads the disk is still
unvalidaded. If I take the command out (date > SYS:s/last-startupddate) then
every thing is alright. What gives. I'm thinking of dumping 1.2 and going back
to 1.1 at least that worked.

It works, I just tried it using 1.2 I added this line exactly:
date > sys:s/last-start-date
And after I booted, I have a file called last-start-date in the s
directory with the date in it. You apparently have a corrupted disk…I'd make
a new copy of my 1.2 WB master disk and try it again, it _does_ work.
You are using both KS and WB 1.2 aren't you? That may seem silly, but
mixing WB and KS disks can cause problems.

If it doesn't work this time, let me know your exact configuration
(drives, memory, etc.) and if possible, a listing of your startup-sequence.
I'll try figure it out. Hopefully, it'll work ok thou.
