Is anyone out there playing Defender of the Crown and finding that they inevitably get Guru errors. I am trying to determine if it is just my disks or if the program is buggy. Thanks for replying. Marc Baime 72105,1576

Marc; I am a dealer, and that program has been on the screen at least twice every day since it came in! So far it has never gone into Guru! So I think the problem is in you disks. <This program sells alot of Amigas> By the way: This week Mindscape announced that Defender Of the Crown was one of their all time best selling programs on any computer and so far it is only available on the AMIGA! Hey software companies does this give you any ideas!!! Ken

Ken, Have you actually tried playing the game through or are you just showing it off. If you ahve actually tried playing it through and have no problems perhaps it's my disks(because every time I try to play through I guru) Thanks, Marc Baime

I also have Defender of the Crown, & I havent had any problems playing through the game. The only thing I can figure is that your disks are slightly off, because if you'll notice when the program enters each different phase of the program it does some sort of error checking (For Copy Protection) so I would bring the game back to the dealer you bought it from & get another. By the way you can make backups of the disks, but the first time the program enters a different phase you must replace the backups with the originals. Hope this Helps. <Barry>

Marc; We probably just play the game through about 50% of the time (We've got two kids working here who finnish it everytime they play). The point being that the program gets a lot of use. You dealer should be able to exchange your disks for you. We have sold over 80 copies of the game and none have come back. Ken

Marc, I and my kids have played the game to completion many times without ever incurring a visit from the guru. It must be your machine or your disks.

Yes, I too have gotten a couple guru errors. They seem to have come when I am well into the game. How old is your Amiga, I bought mine in Oct. 1985. That might be it. My local dealer said to bring it back, but since it only happened twice I think, I didn't bother. Besides, I quit playing the game after about two days, when it became such a bore.

Yeh, Marc, we have seen several instances where Guru msg. come up. Our user group, WAG, has 11 or 12 individuals that have experienced these problems. Through a local dealer, we have passed info including Guru #, activities engaged in, and other pertainent ifo to Master Design and Mindscape. So far, their only response has been "thanks, that goes along with other reports we've heard". Big help, uh?

I'm not speaking for Master Designer but I have been in touch with them. My info on the Gurus is that the next shipment will correct a problem that got past them the first time around. No info on updates, though. By the way, did you realize that RJ Mical of Commodore/Amiga (formerly) fame did most of the actual coding for Defender? It's hard to get a more thorough Amiga authority than him.
