DON, I hope what you say isn't true. Down here in Miami all three local Amiga
stores have not had any 1.2's. I've got to believe that at least one of them
ordered it on time, but we always seem to be the last to get anything. I guess
I'll just have to mail order it from someone.

What I do know is that every dealer was _supposed_ to have been mailed
a letter explaining how and when to order 1.2. I also know that the dealer's
here in Denver all got it, and at least 2 of them got 2 shipments of it. While
nothing is impossible, it certainly would seem strange if either the area rep
or C-A sat on an order while shipping 2 orders to other stores.
Now maybe, if a store only ordered a few copies, it may have been
pushed to the back (just a guess, no idea if that is how it works) in order to
fulfill orders for hundreds of copies. I would estimate that the Denver area
has received and sold on the order of 1,000 copies of 1.2.

Does Commodore intend to bundle 1.2 with Amigas produced after 1.2 was sold?

To the best of my knowledge…no, but that is NOT official. I would
presume however, even if they don't, the dealer will throw it into the package
if you buy from them.

Last I heard, 1.2 will eventually be bundled with Amigas. But currently, this
poses two problems: (1) There are certainly a number of 1.1 disks currently in
the pipeline for release. Reworking these to 1.2 would be expensive and
probably an overall waste of time, since (2) as a new release, there are still
some things that have yet to be upgraded to 1.2. At least some programs out
there "cheat" at something in the OS, and as such, don't run properly under
1.2. If I sell you an Amiga now with only 1.2, there's a good chance that you
won't be able to run a number of programs out there (no idea how many…). I
imagine after 1.2 has settled into the Amiga community, replacing 1.1 as the
most used OS, it'll be the one packaged with the Amiga. It currently is the
only version C-A supports, and the way of the future — it definately will be
packaged with new Amigas at some point in the game (I'd guess early '87,
leaving enough time to get 1.2 in the hands of everyone who currently owns an
Amiga. This is JUST a guess). -Dave
Well,how much does 1.2 cost right now?
$15.95, I think. That includes the entire 1.2 OS, as well as the "Extras" disk
with the new AmigaBASIC, Font Editor, Andy Finkel's uEMACS, two Amiga-to-5 1/4"
IBM PC Format disk utilities, and a bunch of other useful things. What a
bargain!
