GreG, I have no idea of what chroma-keying is, but LIVE does have a feature where you can overlay your live image onto a genlock screen and pick a color to make color 0 and thus transparent. Don't know if that helps but thought I'd mention it. -John

Stated simply, chroma-keying is electronically "selecting" one color (narrow range of colors, actually), making that color "transparent", then placing the resulting image "over" another video signal. For example, a newsman sits before a large panel painted, say, blue. By chroma-keying, that blue panel goes "transparent", and news story footage from another source "shows through" the "window", such that you apparently see the footage over the anchor's shoulder. I'm explaining this poorly, I fear — Joanne could do much better — but you get the idea, perhaps. Rick

John: Chromakey is a process used in television where an object (person, thing, etc.) is "video-ed" in front of a special colored screen (usually blue or black) and that image is electronically merged into another video image. For instance, you could tape a scene on a London street, tape yourself at home in front of a chromakey screen, and, thru the magic of television, have a finished product that looks like you're walking in London. Similar effects can make people fly like Superman, etc. ===Ken

Ken, First off, thanks for the explanation! If I understand you correctly, If I use Amiga LIVE to tape me doing something in front of a blue screen, that I could then turn off by setting the blue color to color 0 so Genlock would come through, then I could run a tape through Genlock and save the resulting combined image on to another tape. Sounds neat! Im going to have to try it! -John

Basically thats what it is. I thought that Live might have that capability since thats how the Mandala system works….almost. But couldn't be sure if that was done entirely by thier software of Live's. Thanks for the info John. GreG

GreG, Have you thought about approaching Very Vivid and getting into playing with their Music Vision Software? I have a demo version that's not flexible at all, and Im putting the real thing on order soon. Im hoping with their good pricing structure that this will really catch on. It's an incredible way to show off the Amiga. A customer brought in an article from a 'Computer Graphics' magazine where they were talking about this incredible new inverntion that took 3,000 circuit boards and $3,000,000 to do. It allowed the user to use his body to point at things on a screen and make a computer do something. Sounds pretty neat, huh? Also sounds exactly like what I am doing with Music Vision which cost me $295 for my Amiga. 🙂 -John

John, I would LOVE to have the complete Mandala system. After seeing Very Vivid perform I am hooked. But other things have to come first for me….like a LOTTO jackpot! 🙂 That new invention you talk about really sounds interesting. And to think….only $3,000,000 to that! GIVE ME A BREAK people! For the price of an Amiga and Mandala you can do MORE than just point to things on the screen! John, guess they'll never learn! <grin> Let me know when you get the complete set-up.
