By "LISP programming on many machines", I meant that most LISP machines (the
generic term for the products from Symbolics, TI, Xerox, and LMI) have
an excellent development environment available to their users. If I were to
want a LISP development system in the Amiga, I'd like to have an integrated
editor, evaluator, compiler, debugger, etc. The Cambridge LISP editing
scheme is a joke. Wow, it matches parenthesis!
On the ST, you could edit a file inside the interpreter. You had to save
the thing to a file and read it in again to get the new function definitions.
(A structure editor lets you change the structure directly, whereas other
systems let you evalauate an expression inside an edit buffer). The Amiga
version doesn't even have decent docs. Cambridge LISP was a disappointment.
I don't know Icon, but I have the book (for the longest time, but I haven't had
the chance to read it). Well maybe this Christmas.
I don't think I want a 286 bridgeboard – what about a 386 bridgeboard?
Windows 386 on the Amiga – that would be kinda neat.
