Hello, Can someone show me the syntax for the use of the utility Unarc in the following situation: EQUIPMENT: A500 ONE drive only! I have the Unarc utility AND the file to be Unarc'd on the same disk. I have been UNarcing in this manner: COPY File.arc ram: CD ram: Unarc file then…. COPY ram:file df0: No real problems. BUT now….. The file I'm trying to unarc is too LARGE to fit in RAM at the same time that the un-arc'd files are being created. I have only 500K avalable.I get a "DISK FULL" error (in reference to the RAM disk) during the un-arcing process. THE QUESTION: How do I un-arc WITHOUT going thru RAM? Essentially, I looking for the syntax to unarc disk-to-disk using ONE drive and TWO different disks.(The WB disk and the disk I want my un-arc'd file on). Actually…there are 3 disks involved. The original WB disk I boot the system from, the disk containing the ARC'd file, and the disk I want my UN-arc'd file to go too. Hope I made this clear. Thanks, Al (I-got-to-get-a-second-drive!) Al, leave the ARCed file in ram: and CD to the disk you want the file unARCed to and type unarc ram:file – the files contained in the archive will be on the disk while the file in ARCed format remains in RAM:. Marlene

Hello, Could someone please advise a novice(me) on how to use the UNARC utility. I have downloaded various programs in arced format, and at this point I'm stuck. I have access to a public domain unarced version of arc z(through PSA-BBS, a very good BBS 414-278-5390). Where do I go from here? Thanks, Andrew Mishlove

Hi Andrew, I'm as new to this as you are! At this point in time,I'd prefer NOT to confuse a new guy any more then I am!! As I get better at this,I'll see if I can be of any help to you. Andrew, I haven't heard of 'arc z', so I have no idea what it might be. We have ARC here in DL 4 as ARC.EXE and also have a help file so you can learn how to use it. The help file is called ARC.HLP and may be found in DL 1. Regards, Larry.

Larry, Thank you–I'll try it, I tried to download an unarced arc, but I think that my communications program, A-Talk+.,re-arced it. So, I still have no arc utility. Thanks again. Andy

Andrew, It shouldn't have 're-ARCed' it. What happens when you try to run ARC? Regards, Larry.

I got it squared away. Thanks. My A-Talk Plus appears to have an arcing function for storing text files to disc. I mistakenly used that function rather than "Receive Binary & Chop" Thanks again.
