#New 1000 User

I have just aquired a 1000 for use by my children ages 9 and 11. I am
particularly interested in educational and game software for thier age group.
If any one might sugguest some good packages I would appreciate it. I know
virtually nothing about the Amiga world since I am primarily a Mac user. I have
MPW C and Aztec C for the Mac, can I use either one of these to develop code
for the 1000? If so, how do I get a hold of the library and glue required to do
the development? I would also like to know if the version 1.1 of "KickStart"
and "WorkBench" is the lateset and greatest.
Kickstart & workbench current levels are 1.2. There are rumours of an imminent
1.3, and 1.1 is definitely dated.
I don't know anything about cross compiling, but Manx also sells a compiler on
the Amy. Lattice sells a package that I think emulates many of the standard
Mac calls. That would fit into their compiler.
If you want a quick overview of the PD software available, pick up a copy of
"amazing Computing". They have a complete listing of the "FISH" (Fred Fish
collection) and Amicus (club) disks in every issue.

Hi and welcome to the Amiga forum. Some good pgms for kids are: "KidTalk" by
First Byte (a talking word processor), "Discovery Trivia" (lots of fun and you
can put in your own trivia questions), "MathTalk". On the game side, FaeryTale
Adventure and Earl Weaver Baseball are great fun for kids that I know ages
7-10.
