There will be some units to allow the A500 to accept A2000 expansions,
however am I correct?
If that's still true the A500 is still a good deal for those that cannot
invest in an A2000 right off.
By the way, this is definately going to be an A500 Christmas (I hope they
hurry and fix the defectives problem).

Yes, that's true, there are devices that allow A2000 expansion cards to
be used with the A500. But, they will either sit under the A500, or beside the
A500 and have to be physicaly attached to the system unit. Since that also
holds the keyboard, moving the combination around is going to be a pain. I
know that I'm constantly adjusting my position as I type, and that usualy means
moving the keyboard also…that wouldn't be a good idea with the A500+expansion
combination. Also, the expansion unit that fits under the A500 raises it about
2 inches off the desktop. That's not real comfortable for typing.
However, as you state…it is an alternative to an A2000 and while the
combination is only a bit cheaper than an A2000 by it's self, you do have the
option of buying them separately so your cost could be spread out over a period
of time.

I'm afraid there's too much truth and the 🙂 doesn't belong.
Don, speaking of keyboards – a friend of mine has just upgraded his 2000
keyboard for a new CBM 2000 keyboard that fixes the problems of running things
like Transformer on the 2000. Have you heard of this? Wonder if CBM will offer
present 2000 owners the option of trading in old keyboards for the new one and
if the new keyboard will start to ship with new 2000's.

I haven't heard of a new keyboard for the A2000…is it better than the
present keyboard (that is…is it as good as the A1000 keyboard was?).
My A2000 keyboard is starting to 'squeek' on the shift keys…really
annoying.

Don, my friend loves it – he says the feel of it is much better than the
keyboard we presently have. All I know is the size of the keyboard is the same
and the function keys are the same style as the A500 Fkeys. I'll try to get
more info or ask him to leave a msg here about it.

I've got one of the 'new' A2000 keyboards…It's GREAT!…has the feel
of the A500's (much more positive 'click'). Also the new keyboard is noticably
heavier and doesn't squish down in the middle under pressure.

Humm…I wonder if your keyboard works with the 'extra' keys when used
with a BridgeBoard?
I've noticed that mine does recognize the NumLock and PrtScr keys, but
doesn't notice the '(', ')' or '/' keys across the top row. The rest it
recognizes just fine, but then of course, there is that keymap I can
modify…if I were of a mind to.

Don't have a Bridgeboard downgrade 😉 so I wouldn't know about the
compatibility with the new 2000 keyboard.
I do use 'setmap usa1' in my startup-sequence so that my ()/*-+ keys
work from the numeric keypad when running amiga programs; though I have noticed
that TxEd won't recognize them regardless.
