My thanks to everyone who responded to the MindMovies question. A number of
interesting (other) subjects were brought up and I think most of them addressed
legitimate concerns by forum members. The responses I received indicated that
there is definitely life on this forum!!
Since so many questions and comments were made here and through Easyplex
messages, I'll attempt to summarize what I've heard, rather than fill up this
message board with comments and "thank yous".
The "unofficial" percentages (I haven't counted all of them yet) are as
follows: 25% were non-responsive to the original question; 20% didn't care one
way or the other; 10% think a company boycott might be a good idea; 20%
wouldn't buy the software; and 25% indicated no negative feelings and tended to
be (or were) positive to future purchases of software and hardware). The
results indicate that the minority favor restrictive purchases of one sort or
another.
For those few who were unfamiliar with Online Today, it's the electronic (GO
OLT90) and print magazine (monthly) that comes with your CompuServe
subscription.
Those who thought OLT writers should frequent the forum(s) more often have
voiced a suggestion that I've heard a lot, and originally heard from an editor.
A way in which this suggestion could be implemented is still pending. My guess
is that the freelance staff would have to work]k 36 hours a day to cover even
10% of the open forums. Since all of us, to my knowledge, already cover this
and a few other information networks, we probably will continue to rely on
readers (or others) sending an Easyplex (or MCImail, or letter, or whatever) to
alert us to potential topics.
Again, thanks to all for your comments. IF I've been snappish with anyone, my
apologies.
P.S. I'll be going over past CBM stories to check on some of the criticisms.
But please note that headlines don't always accurately reflect the contents of
a story.
