Ed,
I have left Ben Blish a few questions in regard to this, and thought I
should try the same with you…. I just installed your SCSI interface,
Adaptech 4000, and a CDC Wren 36 meg HD. Ater going through all kinds of
strange "Format Command Error – XX" messages, I finally got the thing to format
(or so the Format routine said!). Subsequent Quick Formatting returned a
success message as well, but then any attempt to access the drive following
mounting fails to find the drive. In addition, the Amiga DOS format command,
when I attempt that, issued correctly I might add, returns the syntax messa!
I have cross-checked my Mountlist parameters, etc, and can find NO
discrepancies. Watching the LED on the Adaptech during the formatting (what a
dull half-hour THAT was!) it appeared to be readin'-an-writtin' as it should,
and I have performed the self test on the Adaptech with a passing result. The
Wren, by the way, came out of a PC where it had performed fine. The
SCSI.device and Adaptech.driver are in the devs directory.

The Amigados FORMAT command is a necessity, and if it gave you a 'usage'
message, then you had something wrong in it. The most common error is putting a
colon after the name. Keep trying.

Seem to me that when C-LTD's 'quickformat' is run that it is NOT
necessary to run the AmigaDos format. I am pretty sure that I never ran the
Amiga Format on my 170 Meg Micropolis. I don't have C-LTD's docs with me here
and this is only from memory so……… Happy New Year, bill

170 meg?!?!?!?!?!?!?!. Geez, My 60 is insignificant beside that. What on
earth could you ever do with that much room. ( he asks in awe, expecting a non
serious answer to his satirical question. )

64K RAM, who would ever use that MUCH memory?! I admit, I have not
exactly filled the thing yet but then it has not even been on for almost 3
months now. Besides, my Saf-T-Net has not arrived. The Idea of not having an
orderly set of backup for that much information is blood chilling! I think the
thing only has about 35 Meg on right but there is another 35 meg waiting for an
HD backup program.
Yea, seriously though, I do hope that one will hold me for awhile!

I used to be somewhat of a sailor, and suffered from a common malady. It was
an insidious one, causing great expense to me, and relief was always temporary.
The malady was known as two-foot-itis, and consisted of a yearning for 'just a
few more feet', which always seemed to be all I would ever need or want. I
stopped at 39 ft., but if I was still into sailing, i would probably have been
yearning for a 45, 50, or 60 fotter by now.
'Two-meg-itis' is the same thing. One cannot possibly have too much speed,
memory, or fast disk.

Larry – there is _no_ reason for him to use the AmigaDOS format command with
that software – a complete waste of time. –Ben–
