It's A LOT more than just another pageflipper. Zoetrope is a wonderful
professional product. The only thing that it lacks is interlace and
overscan.
Could be. I played with it for an hour or so and was underwhelmed.
I question calling any product of that type "professional" when it lacks
interlace and overscan.
There is a demo on the disk by Louis Markoya. He is one of the finest Amiga
artists around. I thought this demo was very poor. Since Louis is a
superb artist/animator I would have to lay the blame for the lack of
results in this demo to the software.
Steve – I think Louis' demo for Zoetrope was a last minute thing. If I
remember right, he initially did it Using Turbo Silver, and reduced it from
HAM to 32 or 16 colors, and put it into Zoetrope. Other than the lack of
overscan and interlace, though the package is very powerful, and has a
tremendous potential, when a few of the little glitches are fixed. It
appears that Jim Kent wanted to cram as many cells into memory at one time.
ON the Other Hand, I got Photon Cel animator, started it up, and when I
found I could only make 36 cells of HAM animation in a 5MB machine, I put
it on the shelf and haven't touched it since. If you like Louis's stuff,
just wait till you see his "Desiger" series of object disks for Turbo
Silver, They will absolutely knock you out!
Hi Steve…the biggest reason for the bad look of the demo is the origional
demo was reduced 50% (all screens that is) by Antic so it would fit on the
disk. It was done without touching up the frames after the mass shrink and
the quality suffered. I thought I put an origonal here…maybe not…but
will if you like….(its 500K)………………….Louis
