I have the 40 meg. Quantun GVP drive. When running at the highest
maxtransfer rate with FFS, certain bits shifted when writing to the drive
causing 1 byte error in a file which was copiedthe drive. This was an
intermittent problem which affected certain files more than others. You
couldn't always tell which file had been corrupted, unless of course it was
an application program which would guru when running. Since there is a
lack of good utilities on the Amiga for checking hard drive and file
integrity, I was stuck doing file comparisons between my original files and
the copies on the drive. While I was experimenting with the problem, I did
notice that the frequency of the problem increased when using the modem and
writing files. Since I decreased the maxtransfer rate, I have not had
these problems.
