Hi Jon, welcome to the Mac universe. Just starting out or not, I would recommend Suitcase II. The documentation is very good, and educational. It's not a tech manual but it will enlighten you to macintosh fonts. Suitcase II is also the best font access utility. Font Harmony is a utility included with Suitcase II that is absolutly necessary. It converts FONTs to the new NFNT resource type, resolves Font ID and Resource ID conflicts across multiple font files. AND IT REPAIRS A KNOWN IRREGULARITY IN ADOBE FONDs. Font Harmony is also very easy to use. In some cases it was too automatic, for my purposes. Suitcase II is the package you must have (for now?). Font/DA Juggler Plus (now updated) I have only for the Utilities which are included in that package. There are a couple of sound and FKEY utilities, but more important are the "Font/DA Utility" and "Resource Resolver". Resource Resolver does as the name implies (ID conflicts). It has a limitation of working with a maximum of 12 files, Font Harmony is 99 I think. I have 11 files now so I'm sure to exceed 12. Font/DA Utility is extremely handy. It will convert font families on a individually controlled basis. IT DOESN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT REPAIR, HOWEVER. It will also rename and renumber fonts. Renaming fonts is probably a capability that should be remooff ved. Renumbering on the other hand, makes up for everything else. Currently most Output Services are providing either a list of family ID numbers, or a collection of screen fonts so that their customer's documents will contain the compatible font information. There is no guarentee that any two Output Services are the same however. It's possible some user group or other may produce a "recommended list of family IDs" , something like FNT-STD-101A. In either of these cases you would probably want to renumber your font families to correspond with the situation.
