Does anyone know what the lastest release date is for Prof. Publishing
Partner or whatever it is called now? I sent in my PageSetter disks many
months ago and they charged my credit card some two months ago. I would
like to think that its "in the mail" but I have a feeling that they may
still be writing the program. Anyone know anything??
You're right. The program isn't ready yet. Personally, I don't trust a
program until about a month after it's out. Perhaps you can ask for your
money back?
I called the company that puts out Pub. Partner today and they said that
they hope to start shipping next week. My guess is that means I will
actually receive the program in late January, if nothing else goes wrong. I
understand that this is a small company and they are delays but what really
upsets me are the Amiga mags. like AmigaWorld that have allowed Publishing
Partner's ad to run month after month, for at least a year, telling people
that they need only send in their money and their PageSetter disk to
receive the program.
I believe that AmigaWorld knew months ago that the program was not shipping
and would not ship for some time to come. They at least knew"!at it haven't
shipped in the first six months, yet they still continued to run a full
page ad that they knew ( or should have known) was offering a program that
was no where near really to ship.
Thats what bothers me the most. I feel that a computer mag. should make an
effect to police their ads and protect the folks that read their mag. Of
course, a full page, full color ad is hard to turn down. I believe that
their are some Amiga mags. that would have turned it down or at least asked
some pointed questions. Anyone agree?
As a software publisher I agree with you in principle, but the problem is
that the Ads are how the MAGS stay in business. No Ad's = No $$ = No Mag.
The ohnus should really fall on the publisher themselves. If it makes you
feel any better I too am anxiously waiting for PageStream (new name)m as I
had the ST version of the program and it honestly was quite wonderful. I
was able to whack together some stuff very quickly and easily that way
outshined what we were doing on the MAC systems. If they are successful in
making the Amiga version work properly, they should blow Pro PAge out of

? I sent my PageSetter disk and $55 to them in April, and have been waiting
ever since. I propose we get together and form P-FUG (PageStream Future
User's Group). It's charter would give it two main purposes: 1) to exchange
information, comments, ideas about PageStream if it's ever released, or 2)
sponsor a class-action lawsuit if it's not.
I guess what really burned me was going to L.A. AmiExpo and seeing the
Soft-Logik guys there in their fancy booth, wearing custom silk-screened
Soft-Logik tee shirts, demonstrating the program I've paid for but not yet
received. Where did my money go? Program development of pizzas and beer? Or
maybe lots of fancy magazine. ads.
This suggestion is just tongue-in-cheek, of course…for now.

Steve, what did they do with all the disks of PageSetter that people sent in to
them with their $50? Put the Atari verison on it?
Steve, as a former ST-er, I know SoftLogik to be a good and moral and
reputable company. I believe they will come out with the product, but I don't
believe they have been consciously abusing customer's money. I also think that
no one would win in a class-action lawsuit. They would go bankrupt, making
sure that everyone would lose their money, and the Amiga would lose a
potentially important developer with a potentially fantastic product.
I believe that when PageStream is here it will be well worth the wait. I
think they "got in over their heads."
