Bill, actually as far as I know all the DEC machines use CR+LF as their line
seperator. (I should say all the DEC >operating systems<). UNIX is another
story — grew up on DEC machines, uses LF, but is NOT a DEC product. (Don't
mind me, just pickin' nits… <grin>) >Bela<

Again I'm relying more on continuity than knowledge: I know that VAX files use
CR+LF, if they use anything at all (they can be straight text with CR+LF
delimiters, or "FORTRAN" files, or variable-length records of various sorts,
but when a >program< tries to read them they >look< like they have CR+LFs no
matter what flavor they are). I'm assuming that these VAX RMS services come
from the earlier RSX-11M RMS services, therefore that RSX-11M used CR+LF
delimiters too. And therefore that most of their OSes do. But my only real
experience with DEC OSes is on VAXen (and a few hours on an PDP-8… but that
doesn't count <grin>). My PDP-11 use was all under UNIX, and DEC can't be
blamed/credited for that… >Bela<
