I've been beta testing Pagestream for a while now. Pagestream 1.8 IS at the duplicators now! S-L expects to begin shipping upgrades to registered owners in about 2 weeks. They will get an addendum to add to their manual. There is a complete NEW manual that will be packaged with 1.8 for new purchasers. A decision on how registered owners can obtain the new manual has not been decided, (at least I don't know that detail) Why 1.6 to 1.8??? Well, numbers are numbers! Each company has different methods/reasons for determining release numbers. Version 1.8 will NOT be the end of the line for Pagestream. S-L will continue to improve it and support it! 1.8 is not perfect, but it has evolved so far ahead of 1.6 that S-L wants to get the new version out so people will benefit now with the improvements. later!

Thanks for the information. I will be watching my mailbox. The version number question was asked only to seen if you could share any details about any of the new features or bug corrections in 1.8. I would think that a 2 point jump would mean that they were substantial. In fact, other than getting the current features all working correctly, I can think of only two features on my upgrade wish list: 1.) Generate screen fonts on the fly like PP1.3 (the screen display gets pretty messy at higher magnifications). and 2.) Display EPS graphics on screen Maybe you could pass these thoughts on to S-L. -Paul Gerhardt-
