You bet I can help you Chris, here goes:
You can intermix rams of different speeds as much as you wish.
No concern need be given as to organizing them in any particular
way although some patterns of chips are more esthetically pleasing
than others 🙂
Here's some part numbers:
Hitachi HM511000-xx
Hitachi HM511000P-xx
NEC D421000C-xx (we like these the best)
Toshiba TC511000P-xx
OKI M511000-xx
Fujitsu MB1C1000-xx
The xx in each of the above part numbers is the speed designation.
For example -12 is 120 nanosecond rams.
Try these people for ram chips:
Monarchy International – 415 873 3055 – ask for sam.
All Components 800 334 4637
Columbus International 714 969 2421

Perry, Thanks I needed that!
Also, I spoke to one of your people and he helped me out quite a bit. The
manual for the 8MI is a bit over my head and I had hoped for a diagram of the
board itself showing each 2meg of ram. He helped me figure out the placement
of the first 2 meg and the jumper settings.

I am in the process of deciding on an upgrade. I don't know yet whether I
am going to get an A2000 or upgrade my old A1000.
If I upgrade, I am considering your products. I've heard good things about
ASDG but it was some time ago. I wonder if you would tell me where I can get
some info on your memory expansion and hard disks. I kind of remember that you
have something that accomodates both, is that true ?

Although I can't speak for Perry, I can speak for his hardware! Go for it! It
is great stuff! We currently use ASDG's 8MI memory board our A2000
workstations! Have had NO problems with them. What you may be referring to is
ASDG's "2000-in-1" box.

Tell me more, doesn't Perry advertise ? I've heard only good things about
ASDG equipment but no specifications. I am giving the A2000 more consideration
now since I use a PC as a 3270 terminal at work.

that is strictly an addendum and not the whole manual and is only for those who
have the original.
