3.5 drive with BB

I am trying to hook up my internal df1: 3.5 floppy as the A: drive for my BB. I
have made up my cable and changed the drive select junper to drive 0. The BB
accesses the drive on bootup with no apparent problem. However I can not format
or write to the drive. The drive light will come on and the motor spins. It
will just sit like that until DOS errors out and states "drive not ready". The
drive is a Matsushita model JU-363. It has several other jumpers. The best I
can tell there are jumpers for Diskchange "dc" , drive ready "dr", motor mo",
and one last one labeled either "1u" or "iu". The silkscreening suckes and its
not very readable. I made a two-headed cable with both the header connector for
the 3.5 and a edge card connnector for the 5.25 drive. The 5.25 drive uses the
cabel with no problem whatsoever with writes. Any help is welcome. Allen
Allen, I do have 3.5" toshiba as a drive for my XT-BB I don't have any problem
at all. I install this about year and a half already.
I found a jumper on the drive not completely seated. I can now write to the
drive but can not format. I re-installed dos 3.3 from a different source. This
was just to make sure I didn't have a bad copy of dos, no luck. Well at least i
can read and write 3.5. Formating would be nice but isn't really needed. The
whole purpose of this is to be able to trade files back and forth between 3
platforms. Using the macs FDHD ms-dos capable drive, I can now go between
IBM,amiga, and mac platforms fairly quickly. It sure beats stringing null modem
cables everytime I want to xfer files! Allen
