I am having probblems using my Hurricane 2800 accelerator board with my
Connor CP340 hard drive. Is anyone successfully using this combination?
Your more likely to have problems with the disk controller and the
Hurricane board rather than the hard drive itself.

what controller are you using? did imtronics finally get the scsi
controller onto their accelerator? or is it a different controller or (by
chance) do you have two controllers (imtronics board + some other)?

Is that the Hurricane with a SCSI host adapter built into it? If so, you
may need new drivers (or something). But the company may be out of business
(according to recent scuttlebut) so you may be out of luck in that regard.
As an alternative, you may want to try a *NON-DMA* SCSI host adapter.
The ICD is relatively inexpensive, fast, and works with the Ronin/Hurricane
accelerators (as well as the others). It will work with the Conner CP340
drive (I used that Conner for a while).

Yes it is the Hurricane with SCSI controller built in. Do you know what
happened to imtronics? I would like to get it running with the on board

Imtronics has gone down the dumper. Someone had thought they might
be reorganizing, but there's been no confirmation. I have an older
H2000/M2000 combination (The original Ronin 68020 board), so I don't have
any docs on the SCSI port operation.

I think they went out of business. I don't know if they ever got the
SCSI host adapter working. Maybe someone that has the Imtronics unit will
see your message and give you a direct answer.
But if you get tired of waiting, just remember that the ICD host adapter
works well, and is available mail-order for about $140. I am in no way
connected with them. I just happen to use a Ronin (pre-Imtronics) 68020
card and have found the ICD works very nicely.

Would the ICD be about as fast as the HardFrame? I have used an Overdrive
and it was quite slow compared to the HardFrame. With perftest and no
overscan with 10 iterations I got 482.26 k/sec read and 215.73 k/sec write.
And anoter time I got 524280 and 315000bytes/sec with 2 iterations. Thanks

When you want to compare figures, you should make sure you specify the
HARD DRIVES tested, the PROGRAMS used to test and HOW FULL the drives are.
I have a Seagate 157N and a Syquest hooked up to my ICD now. And yes,
you'll do at LEAST as well as the HardFrame, if not better. Especially in
the CRITICAL 512 BYTE test of Dperf3, where it will be almost double the
speed of most controllers I've seen.
You may want to get a decent 16 bit RAM card (like I did) so that the
ICD doesn't set up its buffers in CHIP ram. Since the 32 Bit Ronin
(Imtronics) ram isn't added until AFTER the HD is autoconfigured, you
should have some autoconfigured 16 bit RAM in your system for the buffers.
Other than that (which is a Ronin/Imtronics anomaly, not ICD's) you
won't have any problems, and you won't be disappointed. And you'll get your
hard drive(s) up and running.

I already have 4 megs of fast RAM on my 8UP! board so that shouldn't be a
problem. If you hear anything about Imtronics could you let me know? I do
hate having the '030 just lying around doing nothing. Thanks

Well, you have only two options:
1. Sell the Imtronincs and get something that will work with your
HardFrame.
2. Sell your HardFrame and get something that will work with your
Imtronics (like the ICD).
If Imtronics is indeed out of business (and I believe they are), then
you will probably never see a "fix" for the SCSI portion of the board. That
means either getting rid of the Imtronics, or getting a SCSI host that will
work with it.
So it is totally in your ballpark now. I have a Ronin board (precursor
to the Imtronics) and have found that the ICD host adapter works very well
with it.
You have two alternatives now. I don't think there are any others. But
it is up to you.

Does the ICD controller support rmoveable media and WB2.0? Also does it
have a connection for my 2000's hard drive activity light? If it does I
might just get one. Thaks

Removable Media – yes. I'm using mine with a Syquest right now.
Connection for hard drive activity light – yes.
WB 2.0? I don't know. I don't run WB 2.0 yet. There is somebody from ICD
that frequents CI$, so you might want to try to search for his PIN # and
ask him directly. I *suspect* it does (or will), but like I mentioned,
since I don't run 2.0, I can't tell you for sure.

was going to be away for a couple of weeks. You should see him back

messages about ICD it should be fairly easy to spot.)
Thanks for your help. I might have to get one. I just hate spending more
for another controller. If the on-board controller just worked I wouldn't
have to.
Sorry for the spelling mistakes but I am using a SILENT 700 terminal right
now and not my Amiga.
