All: Trying to use a 2286 bridge board with AmigaDos 2.0 and am having trouble getting it to work. For some reason, I can boot to a floppy but not the HD. Checked the path in Aboot.Ctrl and it is ok. I have both "SYS:pc/pcdisk";"SYS:pc/system/Aboot.ctrl" and "DH0:pc/pcdisk";"DH0:pc/pcdisk" present on the HD. The startup-sequence command is "DH0:pc/pcdisk" so the WB4.1 directories actually should not be necessary, but they are there anyway. Any 2 0 w/BB developers out, I am really baffled with this but am sure that it is something obvious that I am overlooking. 73, bill

Bill, I only have the XT bridge here, but it seems to be working find under 2.02 (from the little test I just ran – hardly ever use the beast anymore). I have totally duplicated the Janus files on my 2.0 Sys: disk, and all of my scripts that invoke the various Janus functions access the files from the sys: disk — I don't know if that makes a difference or not (different sys: disk than when I'm running under 1.3, of course). Good luck… …BobR White Wolf Productions

Bill, Perhaps a silly question…but did you FDISK the MakeAB file? And then did you format it with the /S option? Don

Don; Certainly (but still a good question). The bridge boots ok when running 1.32 but won't boot from the HD when running 2.0. Since I am now satisfied that it will work if everything is set up properly… I will likely try agn this weekend to get it working. 73, bill

I have a A3000 as well and someday want a bridgecard as well (but I do really want a '386 or maybe a '386sx bridge then!) Something I have heard from another section of Compuserve is that you need to turn off the '030 cache in order to boot the bridge from the harddrive, I hope that helps.

Douglas; It sure does help… I was aware that it was necessary to turn off the cache but did not notice that although the SS had a command to do so, somehow it was bypassed on the second pass through (or if already kicked). 73, bill

Bill, I am having the same problem, and it sounds like the Cache is the key, my qu question is, what IS the command in the SS? and will turning it off cause a problem for other progames? Tim

Tim; I have not played with combinations but just issued a "cpu noburst nocache". I suspect (though again have not confirmed) that a "cpu nodataburst nodatacache" would work. No, turning off cache and/or burst will not bother other programs but the machine will run slower. For many things it won't make any obvious difference but programs with small tight loops running many iterations will definately slow down when inst cache is off. 73, bill
