#Print Sideways?
11 messages in this thread
I'm looking for a program that lets you print sideways on a 8 1/2"
by 11" page. Is there one in the libraries or will I have to purchase a
commercial program?
Clifton,
I'm not aware of a freely-distributable program that will do sideways
printing. A long time ago MicroSystems Software had a commercial product
(I think it was called OnSide, but I don't recall for sure) that would do
what you are seeking. I don't know if it's still a current product or not.
You may be able to find it among a dealer's old stock if you look hard
enough. Other than that, the only other solution that I can think of would
be a pretty expensive solution – I know that a program like PageStream does
have the ability to import a text file, and can be set up to print in
landscape mode to a dot-matrix printer. But if all you were looking for
was a landscape-printing program, PageStream would put a sizable dent in
your wallet for that function alone. (Of course, you'd be getting a lot
more, but that's like buying a new car in order to get a hubcap <grin> ).
Hope this helps…

I could have SWORN I saw a program to print two pages side by side in small
print in landscape mode on a Deskjet in the libs. I didn't download it,
and now I can't find it.
BTW: How DOES the Browse key command work? I couldn't figure out the
docs. Bro key hp *should* yield something in the publishing DL, no?
Thanks.
Jim,
That program does sound familiar to me, but I have no idea of the name
either. In order to use the Keyword option of the browse command, I beleive
you need to use a colon, as in "bro key:hp".
Hope this helps…

Jim, try bro;key:sideways bro;key:print onside that is the key I've used
with good results.

Bob,
The MSS program for sideways printing was called "FlipSide".

Thanks for the correction…

I cannot recall a utility that will print sideways – but you might look
through both Library 6 and Library 7 of AMigaUser. Such a program should
be there.

Clifton,
The MSS program that BobR mentioned is called FlipSide. I have a copy, but
have never used it. I don't know, though, whether it's still available.

If you have a LaserJet, there is a great program called LJ2.ARC in
the printer drivers file section. It lets the LaserJet use the small line
printer font to put two pages side by side on one in landscape mode. Quick
and great for documentation that comes with PD software (or anything for
that matter).
I've graduated to Postscript now, and there is a similar program
for that called Lila; I think I got it from here, I can't recall.

If you are looking for a word processor that can print sideways, then
ProWrite fits the bill.
