We were just playing Bard's Tale and got the dreaded Software Error message and subsequent GURU number (00000003.00203798). We had just killed all the statues around the castle and were going east on Blue Highway. Our Amiga is a 512k with 2 drives and a 2Mb Starboard II. It's a great game, I'm just worried about losing some really great goodies to the GURU. Bob

Yes, we are aware of the dreaded Guru occasionally (but rarely) appearing in Skara Brae. The problem stemmed from Commodore giving us a gamma copy of KS 1.2 and SWEARING that that was the final version that would be shipped. We tested Bard's thoroughly on those 1.2's, and guess what? The KS that CBM shipped was different from the ones they gave us. Not by much, but enough to very rarely cause Gurus. It's an imperfect world (*sigh*). Needless to say, we are fixing it and retesting with Kickstarts that we bought off of store shelves. Sorry to have had that happen to you. Forgive us? Jeff J. – EA

Any idea what we might do to avoid said GURU? I've only seen it once, but it hurt BAD… But I'm still just awed by BT!

I don't know of any good way, short of only playing for an hour or two at a time. He seems to appear after a long session. Memory fragmentation, possibly? Good luck, anyway. Jeff J. – EA

I forgive you, though I suspect you have been beating up on CBM and yourselves over this. Is there anyway I could get an updated copy of BT when they become available. (Disk exchange or whatever). Bob PS It really is a great game.
