Fonts in Final Copy

Hello,
So far I'm quite pleased with Final Copy. There does, however, seem to be
some problem in dealing with fonts. First of all, am I right in assuming
that you have your own font format which renders standard Amiga fonts
unusable in your program? If so, this would be a serious shortcoming to
your program. Second, how can I get the font which appears in the menus to
appear in the body of my documents? I don't seem to be able to find
answers to these questions in the manual. If you are going to limit fonts
to your own, at least you could have included more than the few that seem
to be here. I hope there are answers to these questions, as these problems
could be very serious deficiencies to an otherwise excellent program.

The SoftWood outline font technology is proprietary ( see earlier messages
in our conference if you want to know why ).
It also sounds like you haven't found the 25 additional outline fonts
located in the "PSFonts" drawer (search around for them, they're beautiful)
DO check out the PostScript fonts! I did just to see if they'd work and
they look GREAT on my printer (HP DeskJet 500)!
You can move the postscript fonts to same directory as the other fonts.
Also y ou can rename them to the names listed in appendix E. I have tested
them rena med and they work fine.

It's O.K. to re-name any of the font files for Final Copy, just remember
that if you take your document to another person's machine, their computer
is going to balk on the font names you use in your documents. It is not a
recommended practice.
Also remember that the files in PSFonts and SWOLFonts are the only ones you
can rename. Modifying the names of the other fonts will cause
unpredictable results.
I am aware of problems renaming standard amiga fonts with their imbedded
names. When Final Copy becomes the dominant word processor, I suppose that
renaming could become a problem. For now it is not and I find the
Postscript names much more intuitive. I took a PostScript file to work,
sent it to a Apple LaserWriter II and compared the output (basically
printed every Postscript typeface) and found the hard copy very close to
printing the same file to my DeskJet. [ The only font problem I have had is
Final Copy remembering the path to the post script fonts and complaining
when I changed it (reloading a

I suggest putting all of the PSFonts in the same drawer with the other five
outline fonts. That is, put them all in the same directory. FC will
search that directory, independent of path name, for the requested fonts if
it doesn't find the font specified by a specific path.

Pat, please try to get some better names for the fonts that make them
easier to id.

That is how I have things now. The problem is limited to documens created
before I moved the fonts.
