Mac Postscript Fonts

I have access to the huge library of postscript fonts for the Mac, at a
great price. Is there a utility that will let me import them into the
Amiga, under 2.04, as outline fonts? I already have the necessary hardware
and software to copy files from a Mac disk; but what about the font formats
themselves?

If you want to use the Mac fonts in PageStream, use my MI-M2I program, here
on Compuserve. It will covert the Mac outline fonts into IBM PostScript
fonts. If you want to use them in PPage, our commercial program MIfont will
convert the bitmap fonts into standard Amiga fonts (plus a PPage metric
file) and the outlines into a downloadable format that PPage can send to
your printer. As well, our other program, MIoutline, will convert the
outline fonts into PDraw outline fonts, if you have PDraw.

Could you point me in the direction of an example Mac outline font on
CIS that can be used with MI-M2I please?.I am very ignorant of font
formats/technology in general and Im not sure what I should actually be
trying to convert.
I have tried many fonts files from CIS without success,I have found
through my failures that MAC AFM,ATM and NFNT files do not convert with
MI-M2I.Although it converts MAC AFM's I think I right in saying that cannot
produce .PFB files from MAC AFM's alone.
Any help much appreciated

Check out the DTPforum for PD Mac Type 1 PostScript fonts. The 3 files you
mentioned are as follows: AFM's contain spacing and kerning information
ONLY (comparable to PPage's metric files) ATM fonts… hmmm, not too sure
what they might be. Could be outline fonts, but more likely, they're small
bitmap fonts used by ATM (Adobe Type Manager) when it can't scale small
fonts from the actual outlines properly. NFNT files are the newest of 2
kinds of Mac bitmap screen fonts (the other format, called FONT, is very
old and rarely used). None of these file formats conatin an actual outline
font. What you're looking for is a Type 1 PostScript (outline) font. On the
Mac, there are no real extensions for these files (like .AFM or NFNT), so
you'll just have to look in the file descriptions for "Type 1" or
"outline". You might be able to find the IBM versions of these fonts here
as well, but I wouldn't recommend using them for a variety of reasons too
complicated to go into now. If you're still having trouble finding Mac
fonts, let me know and I'll hunt around myself for them.

Assuming you mean you want to use the PostScript fonts as part of the
scalable font technology of v2.04, the answer is that there is no way that
this can be done at present.
2.04 uses CompuGraphic format fonts, and I know of know conversion utility
that will convert PS to CG.
MIoutline will allow PostScript fonts to be used within Professional Draw
and, assuming you have a PostScript printer, MIfont will allow them to be
used in Professional Page.
If you're using PageStream instead of ProPage or ProDraw, MI-M2I
(downloadable here on CIS) will turn them into files which PStream can use.
There are also PD utilities to convert PostScript fonts into Amiga
bit-mapped fonts … but none to set them up as outline fonts.

The fonts can be converted to work with Professional Page, or Pagestream.
Possibly with a few other pieces of software also, However, if you are
aksing if they can be converted to be used as system fonts, ala' the
scalable Compugraphic fonts of 2.04, the answer is no.
